English Study Tours Hawaii is proud to be able to offer two specialty programs for its level 4 and above students: Ocean Sciences in English and Surfing Intensive in English.

Below is a description of the costs associated with these programs.

The Ocean Sciences program runs with no less than 7 students and not more than 10 students. Tuition is $1250 per 4-week term. Activities fees are $465 for each outer island excursion, which pays for flights, accommodations, and third-party activities costs. Accommodations are shared (double) occupancy on the outer islands. If specific students want private occupancy on the outer islands, then they should notify us of this on the application form, and they should be aware that there will be an additional cost of approximately $125 per night on each of the outer islands (depends on where accommodations were booked at the time). Students should have English Skills equivalent to a strong intermediate (around level 4).

The Surfing Intensive program runs with no less than 5 students and not more than 6 students. Tuition is $1250 per 4-week term. Activities fees are $400 for each of the islands visited.

While we provide students with guidance and help where possible, students will ultimately be responsible for the security and safety of their surf equipment. We provide beginners with surf equipment; a nominal daily fee of $45 is charged. Intermediate and advanced surfers not bringing their own equipment here can contact us for help in acquiring equipment here in Hawaii.

Beginners may not, in some instances, be able to surf in the same locations where the more advanced surfers are surfing. When this occurs, beginning surfers will be given other skill-building alternatives.
Packing surfboards for shipping interisland will be the sole responsibility of the student.

Students must verify their level of surfing skills on their application. This will be verified when they get to Hawaii. Because of the nature of surfing, safety is of utmost important to us, so students at all levels of surfing ability are required to heed the guidance of our surfing facilitators.

The Surfing Intensive is English only, as is all course work at ESL Hawaii. Courses will be given in English and students will be trained in the vocabulary and English sentence patterns normally used to talk about surf-related subjects. Students will have multiple opportunities every day to practice English with native speakers (under the guidance of a qualified English instructor).
